Abstract

This work includes the design and construction of a solar tracking system with two axes of movement and sensing based on only three photoresistors. The totally automated system possesses simple and reliable connections which facilitate replacement and maintenance of components, making it viable for large scale production. In the tests performed near summer solstice with the proposed system, an increase in total energy generation of 52.7% was observed for the tracking panels compared to the fixed panels, suggesting a reduction of costs and area of installation.
