Abstract
In this paper experimentally measured optical properties of Nd5Ge3 have been reported together with the electronic structure calculations within the LSDA + U method, accounting for electronic correlation effects in the 4f shell of Nd. A detailed comparison of the experimental and calculated theoretical optical conductivity allowed us to relate most of the features of experimental curve to corresponding interband transitions.
